Unforgettable Ugandan Adventures with Adriane Berg and Stuart Bochner
There are journeys that touch the heart, and then there are those that linger in your soul long after the road has ended. Hosting Adriane Berg, founder of Ageless Traveler, and her husband Stuart Bochner on a 14-day expedition through Uganda was exactly that, a journey full of laughter, discovery, connection, and unforgettable beauty.
As the team behind Ronick Tours and Travel, we had the privilege of guiding them across the Pearl of Africa, from the vibrant pulse of Kampala to the misty gorilla highlands of Bwindi. Every sunrise brought a new adventure, every sunset a new story to tell.
Kampala: Where The Adventure Begins
Our adventure began with a warm welcome at Entebbe International Airport, followed by a restful night. The next morning, the city of Kampala came alive before our eyes.
We explored the Royal Kasubi Tombs, immersing ourselves in the royal history of the Buganda Kingdom, and climbed the minaret of the Gaddafi Mosque, where sweeping city views captured the heartbeat of Uganda’s capital. Adriane and Stuart were fascinated, not just by the landmarks but by the warmth of every smile we met along the way.
Jinja: Where the Nile Begins
From Kampala, we journeyed east to Jinja, the historic Source of the Nile. A peaceful boat cruise turned thrilling when a sudden downpour of hailstones surprised us mid-river! Instead of retreating, Adriane and Stuart laughed heartily, embracing the adventure as part of the experience. The moment summed up the spirit of travel, unexpected, beautiful, and unforgettable.
We also visited the thunderous Itanda Falls, their raw power echoing the mighty energy of Africa’s longest river.
Murchison Falls: Power and Serenity
Next, we ventured north to Murchison Falls National Park, where the Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge with breathtaking force. Our stay at Sambiya River Lodge was pure bliss, with warm hospitality, hearty meals, and sunsets that painted the sky gold.
During a thrilling game drive, we spotted a pride of nine lions, graceful giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, and countless antelopes. When we came across tourists whose vehicle had gotten stuck in the mud, we were quick to lend a hand, a small act that left Adriane and Stuart deeply touched.
The evening sunset cruise on the Nile was pure magic, with hippos wallowing, crocodiles basking, and the river glowing in the last light of day.
Kibale: The Forest of Chimpanzees and Friendship
Our journey continued to Kibale Forest, where nature and community coexist in perfect harmony. We explored Bigodi Village, crossing handmade swamp bridges, visiting local craft centers, and joining women weaving colorful baskets. Adriane and Stuart even learned the art of traditional coffee-making, grinding, roasting, and sipping the freshest cup imaginable.
And then there was the banana man, cheerful and full of life, who introduced us to banana juice, beer, and gin. “I’m always on vacation,” he said with a grin, raising his glass of banana gin. His joy was infectious.
We made a heartfelt stop to visit my 85-year-old grandmother, whose radiant energy instantly connected with Adriane. Though they spoke different languages, their smiles said it all. Friendship needs no translation.
The chimpanzee trek the next morning was unforgettable. Swinging through the trees, chattering in excitement, the chimps reminded us just how alive and intelligent nature truly is.
Semliki: The Land of Hot Springs and Hidden Wonders
In Semliki National Park, the trek through lush forest paths led us to the famous hot springs, where we boiled eggs in naturally heated water, a simple, joyous moment that had everyone laughing. Surrounded by monkeys and exotic birds, the park felt like a secret world untouched by time.
Queen Elizabeth: The Kingdom of Wildlife
From Semliki, we headed to Queen Elizabeth National Park, staying at Kikorongo Safari Lodge, a charming hideaway overlooking the savannah. During a game drive, we were lucky enough to spot a leopard, completing our Big Five sightings.
We visited Bunyampaka Salt Lake, cruised along the Kazinga Channel among hundreds of hippos and birds, and ended the day with a magical night game drive, the African bush glowing under a star-studded sky.

Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi: A Perfect Ending
Driving through the Ishasha sector, we encountered tree-climbing lions before reaching Buhoma, where we met the Batwa community. Adriane’s generosity touched many hearts as she supported local artisans by purchasing crafts and donating items.
Then came the moment everyone waits for, the Gorilla Trek. Adriane was both nervous and thrilled as we ventured into the misty forest. When we finally came face-to-face with a majestic family of mountain gorillas, time seemed to stand still. Watching them play, feed, and care for their young was humbling beyond words.
Our journey ended at the tranquil Lake Bunyonyi, the “Place of Little Birds.” At Arcadia Lodge, we enjoyed panoramic views, gentle breezes, and heartfelt conversations about everything we had experienced.
As we drove back to Entebbe, stopping at Igongo Cultural Centre along the way, there was a shared sense of gratitude for nature, for culture, and for friendship.
